That’s how long it’s been since we’ve had a white Christmas. And today, on Christmas Eve, it snowed for 8 hours straight and we have a gorgeous winter wonderland surrounding us.
I think this is great to introduce you all to my garden posts, as well. I know some people cut everything down in their gardens in the fall, but I love seeing the snow clinging to all of the stems & branches in the winter. I can only imagine how beautiful it will be in a few more years, because our home is only 3 years old this month, and the landscaping is only 6 months to 2.5 years old, depending on which summer we planted it.
Do you see the dove in flight in this photo below? It was perched in my Navajo globe willow tree right there – until my grandson and I got too close. I had no idea I captured it flying away like this, and I was pretty excited to see it when we came inside. I guess that’s what happens when you’re using your phone’s camera and snow is falling & making it a little hard to see.
Looking straight ahead and to the left is the lot we purchased this past August. I have a landscaping plan drawn out & ready to go and I can’t wait to get started on it this spring. It’s going to be a long, tiring process, but I know it will be worth it in the end.
A lot of people can’t believe this is a *new construction* yard when they see it. It’s been my dream for awhile now to create our own private backyard oasis, so we’ve worked really hard to get as much planted as possible, as fast as we could. Plus we diligently care for everything with proper, timely fertilization and keeping bugs & other plant diseases at bay.
My grandson has seen snow a few times while here visiting, but never on Christmas. But today that changed and so long as the temperatures stay as cold as the forecast says it will, we should still have a beautiful white Christmas to wake up to tomorrow!
This is the first year that he actually understands what snow is and he LOVED it!!!! (He’ll be 3 years old in a couple of months)
If it were up to me, we’d get another foot of snow and we’d all be snowed in together to watch movies, play games, eat lots of good food, and just quietly hang out together by the fireplace. I’m ALREADY pretty exhausted from all the preparation, and running around, and festivities. I’m ready to slow down now. To take it all in. To breathe. And to be thankful.
Thankful that I have so many people and reasons in my life TO get so worn out! My wish for all of you this Christmas, is to always have the same in your lives, as well!
Merry Christmas everyone ~ from my family to yours!
